Institute for Counseling | RESPECT Parenting Class

Provides a court approved 52 week child abuse prevention program. The parenting program is for parents whose children have been exposed to traumas including family violence, child abuse, divorce and trauma occurring from outside the family. Parents are given information and skills on how to alleviate their children's experiences, age-specific behaviors, and interventions for these behaviors. Topics include forms of abuse, anger and stress management, developmental issues of childhood, defining good parenting, family behavior, substance abuse prevention with children, and personal growth. Instructors hold MA degrees or higher. Provides a certificate at the end of the class which is suitable for Juvenile Court cases by meeting Welfare and Institutions Code requirements.
